PASAN is the only community-based organization in Canada providing HIV, AIDS and hepatitis C prevention, education and support services exclusively to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families.
PASAN works with prisoners in provincial and federal corrections facilities throughout the province of Ontario, but faces tremendous constraints in doing this work.
It’s become increasingly difficult for PASAN staff to be able to access prisons to conduct educational programming about harm reduction, in addition to providing support and case management to people living with HIV who are inside the prison system, due to lockdowns, overcrowding and other dehumanizing conditions at institutions – much of which has been covered recently in the media.
Beyond this, PASAN needs additional financial resources to visit corrections facilities and work with prisoners on a frequent enough basis, as well as to support their post-release funds program, which provides ex-prisoners living with HIV with a small amount of financial support to help secure temporary housing and food security upon release.
There are three ways PASAN is asking individuals to support the campaign:
2. Even more importantly, PASAN needs people to share the campaign through social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, even Instagram! If you could go to the PASAN Facebook page, like it, and share the post about the campaign, it would go a long way in raising awareness about the campaign.
3. Finally, if you would like to go one step further, it would help the reach of the campaign if you could send an e-mail to ten friends or colleagues who you think would support PASAN. Please feel free to use this notice as a template.
Thanks so much for considering supporting PASAN!
